What are the short term effects of cannabis edibles?

Cannabis edibles contain THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the psychoactive cannabinoid in cannabis. It interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system to create effects like euphoria, relaxation, and altered perception. These effects are delayed because edibles have to be digested. THC is metabolized in the liver, where it’s converted to 11-hydroxy-THC, a more potent compound with longer-lasting effects. That can take up to two hours. Effects may linger for up to six or eight hours.
